Getting Started
Install Cursor, set up Claude as your AI model, and learn the core workflow in minutes.
1. Download Cursor
Go to cursor.com and download the installer for your OS. Cursor is available on macOS, Windows, and Linux. It's built on VS Code, so your extensions, themes, and keybindings carry over.
2. Choose a plan
Hobby (Free)
Limited completions and chat messages. Good for trying Cursor out.
Pro — $20/month
Unlimited completions, 500 fast premium requests/month, and access to all models including Claude Sonnet and Opus.
Business — $40/user/month
Team features, admin controls, centralized billing, and enforced privacy mode.
For individual developers, Pro is the best value.
3. Configure Claude as your AI model
Open Cursor Settings (Cmd+Shift+J) and navigate to the Models section. Select Claude Sonnet as your default model for Chat, Composer, and Cmd+K. You can also bring your own Anthropic API key for additional flexibility.
4. Import your VS Code setup
On first launch, Cursor offers to import your VS Code extensions, settings, and keybindings. Accept the import to keep your existing workflow intact.
